🔹 Vacancy Details
- Southern Railway (Level-1): 12 posts (2 each in divisions – Chennai, Tiruchchirappalli, Madurai, Palakkad, Thiruvananthapuram, Salem).
- ICF (Level-1): 02 posts.
- Total: 14 posts.
- Note: No community reservation – open to all.
🔹 Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification:
- 10th pass OR ITI OR National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) from NCVT.
Scouts & Guides Qualification:
- President’s Scout/Guide/Rover/Ranger OR Himalayan Wood Badge (HWB) Holder.
- Active member of Scouts organization for at least 5 years (with Certificate of Activeness).
- Participation in 2 National / All India Railway events AND 2 State-level events.
🔹 Age Limit (as on 01.01.2026)
- General (UR): 18–33 years
- OBC: 18–36 years
- SC/ST: 18–38 years
Age Relaxations:
- Railway employees (3 yrs service): UR 40 | OBC 43 | SC/ST 45
- Widows/Divorced women: UR 35 | OBC 38 | SC/ST 40
- PwBD: UR 43 | OBC 46 | SC/ST 48
- Ex-servicemen: Service + 3 years (up to 40 years max for reservists)
- Others: As per notification.
🔹 Selection Process
- Written Test (60 Marks, 1 Hour)
- 40 Objective Questions (40 marks, -1/3 negative marking)
- 1 Essay Question (20 marks)
- Topics: Scouts & Guides activities + General Knowledge
- Marks on Certificates (40 Marks)
- National/All India Events (up to 10 marks)
- State Events (up to 10 marks)
- Specialized Courses (up to 10 marks)
- District Rallies (up to 10 marks)
- Total Selection Marks: 100
🔹 Syllabus (Scouts & Guides Quota)
- History, law, promise, organization (District/State/National)
- Training centres, proficiency badges, hiking, social service, handicrafts
- National/International Jamboree, Indian Railway Jamborette
- WAGGGS/WOSM, PM Shield, VP Award competitions
- Community development, aims & methods of scouting
- How scouting develops better citizens
🔹 Examination Fees
- General candidates: ₹500 (₹400 refunded after appearing in exam)
- SC/ST/ExSM/PwBD/Female/Transgender/Minorities/EBC: ₹250 (₹250 refunded after exam)
🔹 Other Key Instructions
- Candidates must upload photo in Scout/Guide uniform.
- Applications only through online mode at RRC Chennai website.
- Written exam in English or Hindi (choice required).
- Candidates must arrange own travel & stay (SC/ST eligible for free pass).
- Final appointment subject to Medical Exam (Bee Two and above).
- Recruitment is merit-based; beware of job racketeers.
